Hermetics is the study of the esoteric teachings of Hermes Trismegistus (or “thrice great”) considered by some to also be Thoth, the author of the Emerald Tablets. The Hermetic Principles and other teachings provide a fascinating and accurate way of not only learning about the nature of the multiverse itself, but also about inner, spiritual alchemy – transmuting oneself (lead) into a better human being and living up to the inherent potential with which we are all born (gold).
For those unfamiliar with Hermetics, a great primer on the subject is The Kybalion. It states the Hermetic Principles simply and expounds upon them in a very accessible and meaningful way. It’s one of those books that one can read over and over again and gain new insight each time.

This is an intense course on Western metaphysics that uses the Tarot as a way to explain principles and concepts of subtle energetics. Even with the intentional blinds and the use of a traditional structure the author ” Mouni Sadhu” managed to write up the lab book of his Magnum Opus and thus to shed light on the paths of those who follow.

This is a reprint of the 1920 edition of an important but almost unknown work. When Atwood made her suggestive inquiry into what was termed “The Hermetic Mystery,” she supposed that the adept Hieophants put the candidate into a deep trance and his soul was led into something that was for her the Supreme Oneness of everything.

Often alchemy is seen as an example of medieval gullibility and the alchemists as a collection of eccentrics and superstitious fools. Sean Martin shows that nothing could be further from the truth. It is important to see the search for the philosopher’s stone and the attempts to turn base metal into gold as metaphors for the relation of man to nature and man to God as much as seriously held beliefs. Sir Isaac Newton devoted as much time to his alchemical studies as he did to his mathematical ones. This book traces the history of alchemy from ancient times to the 20th century, highlighting the interest of modern thinkers like Jung in the subject. It covers a major, if neglected area of Western thought.

Whoever reads this book expecting to find an informative essay on “sugar-coated” commercial esotericism will be greatly disappointed. The Stellar Man
is about a science more elevated than any now known, and what it can do for mankind. The occult anatomy of the cosmos is the mechanics of Nature, whose forces reciprocally feed from and nourish man, influencing everything in his life. Knowledge, and the use of these forces, is what permits the genuine Hermeticist to act with his mind in different vital situations in order to ensure the achievement of his goals. True magic bears no resemblance whatsoever to su-perstition and witchcraft. The true magus, is a KING of his internal world which by analogy can influence the external world. “As it is above, so it is below.” “As it is within, so it is without.”

The precepts of Hermetic philosophy remained shrouded in secrecy for more than 2,000 years, clouded by obscure language and dense allegories. The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus is the original source of Hermetic Philosophy and Alchemy. According to one legend, the text was originally carved by Hermes Trismegistus on tablets of emerald and placed in the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Cheops. While such stories are probably apocryphal, the document has been well known to scholars and occult philosophers since at least the 10th century.

In “The Mystery of the Cathedrals,” Fulcanelli said that when an alchemist seems to be most clear is when he obscures the most; when he seems to be the most dense is when he is being most clear. Alchemical manuscripts can be truly mystifying with all of the quaint titles for substances mentioned in the language used within chemical context, as the Master Alchemists had to encode the precious Mysteries for inner, spiritual alchemy or risk being burned at the stake, or just as dangerous, revealing the True Nature and most profound Mysteries of this ancient and esoteric Art to the profane.
